About Jim

Jim Woodruff is the Founder and President of Woodruff Wealth Management. For almost 30 years, Jim has dedicated his career to help the clients he serves take control of their financial future and to allow their money to work for them. It is because of Jim’s experience that he has been able to help many of his client’s transition into retirement and take on life’s different hurdles.

Jim grew up in the Richardson, TX. After high school, Jim decided to attend East Texas State University, which is now Texas A&M Commerce. While at college, he played for the football team and graduated with a business degree. In 1995, Jim began his financial planning career by joining AAL Capital Management. After three years with AAL, Jim began working at Edward Jones until he decided it was time for a change. This result eventually led to the founding of Woodruff Wealth Management and creating his very own independent financial practice.

Jim has put an emphasis on industry education and currently has his Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS), and Wealth Management Specialist (WMS) designations. On top of this, Jim is the Registered Principal at Woodruff Wealth Management. Jim holds the Series 6, Series 7, Series 9, Series 10, Series 63, and Series 66 licenses, in addition to his life, health, and annuity insurance license.

When Jim is not working, he loves to spend time with his wife, Laurie, his two sons, Riley and Auggie, and their growing family. He also enjoys playing with his dog, Paul, golfing, hunting, fishing, and attending church with the family.

2026 Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Management Teams

The 2026 Forbes ranking of America’s Best-In-State Wealth Management Teams, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. This ranking is based upon the period from 3/31/2024 to 3/31/2025 and was released on 01/07/2026. Advisor teams that are considered must have one advisor with a minimum of seven years of experience, have been in existence as a team for at least one year, have at least 5 team members, and have been nominated by their firm. The algorithm weights factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Out of approximately 12,787 team nominations, 6,149 advisor teams received the award based on thresholds. This ranking is not indicative of an advisor’s future performance, is not an endorsement, and may not be representative of individual clients’ experience. Neither Raymond James nor any of its Financial Advisors or RIA firms pay a fee in exchange for this award/rating. Compensation provided for using the rating.
